Olympic Games 2024 | France in the group of Germany and Japan

It was this Tuesday, at 7 p.m. sharp, that the draw for the men's and women's group stages was organized in Switzerland, a little more than four months before the opening of the next Olympic Games (July 26 – August 11). In charge of making it: Carmelo Anthony and Penny Taylor, two legends of the NBA/WNBA and FIBA games.

Host nation and podium contender for men but also for women, the France is now fixed on its fate in the group stage for Paris 2024.

For Vincent Collet's players, it will be Germany (reigning world champion), Japan and the winner of the TQO in Latvia (Latvia, Georgia, Philippines, Brazil, Montenegro or Cameroon).

For Jean-Aimé Toupane's players, it will be Australia, Canada and Nigeria. We remember that this first round will take place in Lille and that the final phases will take place in the capital.

Four tickets remain to be offered among the men

For the Blues of Victor Wembanyama, Rudy Gobert, Nicolas Batum and others, the program is, on paper, less tough than imagined, while they will have to finish in one of the first two places in their group, or even in the skin of one of the two best thirds, to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament. Ditto in the women's draw, where Marine Johannès' teammates will have a lot to do from the start in their quest for a medal.

In the rest of the groups, we note that the United States and Serbia fell together and that Pool A already looks like a death pool, if Spain or the Bahamas and Greece or Slovenia come together. qualify to join Australia and Canada.

As a reminder, the four TQO (Olympic qualifying tournament), involving six countries each, will take place from July 2 to 7, in Valencia (Spain), Athens (Greece), Riga (Latvia) and San Juan (Puerto Rico). They will then offer the last four tickets for the men's draw, for each TQO winner, with Spain, Slovenia, Greece, Italy, Bahamas, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia, Dominican Republic or even Finland, Brazil and Montenegro who will try to reach Paris.
