Official: Bob Myers leaves the Warriors!

Twelve years after his arrival at the Warriors, Bob Myers leaves his functions! At the end of the contract, the president/GM of Golden State has chosen not to extend his contract, and he confirms that he will take a step back first. It’s a thunderclap in the NBA since Myers is considered one of the best leaders of the last fifteen years!

He is at the very origin of the construction of the current Warriors dynasty, through his draft choices and the recruitment of Steve Kerr in 2014. Four NBA championship titles later, he is leaving because “it’s is the right time, ”he simply explained to ESPN. We will know more this evening during the press briefing that he has planned to hold at 10:00 p.m. French time.

Mike Dunleavy Jr and/or Kirk Lacob promoted?

In the process, the Warriors could opt for an internal promotion to replace him, and it is Mike Dunleavy Jr who would hold the rope. Unless Kirk Lacob, the son of owner Joe Lacob, is preferred to him. Both currently serve as assistants to Myers.

Son of the former NBA coach of the same name, Mike Dunleavy Jr was a complete player in his 15-year NBA career (2002-2017), including five seasons at Golden State, where he was drafted. At the end of his career, he had returned to the Warriors where he rose through the ranks, from scout in 2018 to assistant GM a year later, to be named vice president of basketball operations in 2021, becoming the right arm of Bob Myers.

If he were to replace him, he would begin his GM career with a huge project: managing the contract extensions of Klay Thompson and Draymond Green!
