Obi Toppin thrilled to get closer to the city of Dayton

To discuss his arrival in Indiana, Obi Toppin spoke of a “new start”. It turns out there’s more to this career change than anything else, as Indianapolis is located less than 200 miles from Dayton, Ohio.

Why is it important ? Quite simply because that’s where the interior spent his university years. A change of scenery but also an excellent memory for this native of Brooklyn.

“When I arrived here, it was a totally different world. Going from New York to Dayton is not the same thing,” he tells theIndy Star. “The atmosphere was crazy. Everyone shows you affection, welcomes you. By making my visit there, after leaving high school, I understood that it was a place for me. I like the home environment and I think Indiana has that too. »

Obi Toppin, who organized a basketball camp on the campus of his former university this summer, is therefore delighted to join the Pacers, in order to be closer to Dayton.

“Being so close to here in Indiana is incredible. I have always considered this city as my second home. Maybe it’s not so good that I’m only an hour and a half away because I might be going there every day. The environment and atmosphere are wonderful. I did not choose the place where I was going to be transferred, but to have this chance, it is magnificent. I’m glad it happened that way. »
