Nuggets sacrifice Reggie Jackson

While he had just activated his “player option” to complete his contract with the Nuggets and receive 5.2 million dollars next season, Reggie Jackson learned he was being traded! Jamal Murray's backup is heading back East to the Hornets in exchange for three future second-round draft picks (2025, 2029 and 2030).

It's a franchise that Jackson “knows” well since he was transferred there in 2023 by the Clippers, before negotiating a “buy-out” and joining the Nuggets with whom he will win the title. We don't know if he will agree to be LaMelo Ball's understudy or if he will, once again, negotiate a termination of contract.

Anyway, the Denver Post recalls that this maneuver allows the Nuggets to recover a few million dollars, and to avoid being in the dark red. Which will allow them to make a more substantial offer to keep Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who has chosen to test the market, but also to position on “free agents”. For the moment, the Nuggets only have 12 players under contract, out of the 15 possible.
