No retirement for Al Horford!

At 38 years old, and after finally winning an NBA title, Al Horford could have bowed out. But the Dominican still has some good leftovers, and he announced that he would be there, at the start of the school year, to aim for the double. Under contract for one more year, he will receive $9.5 million next season.

“As far as I’m concerned, I never really set a deadline for myself,” he announced to ESPN. “I want to make sure that I feel healthy, that I love what I do and for me, luckily, I have the support of my wife and my family. It is very important for me. »

A way of saying that as long as he enjoys playing on the field, and those around him encourage him, he will continue to play. “I have the impression that I have been asked this question for several years. I feel good, and I want to continue playing. Why not continue? I don’t want to limit myself.”

16 years ago, the Celtics eliminated Al Horford's Hawks…

Comments confirmed by Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck. “Al will be back next year. That's what I was told. He’s 38 years old, and that’s what’s incredible,” he declared on the show “ The Greg Hill Show“. “The irony is that we won in 2008 against Al's team, and the Hawks pushed us to a Game 7 in the first round. Which means we participated in his drought, and now he's come back to us. He loves this place. He and his family love it. He couldn't be happier. We too are happy. »

For Grousbeck, it is this mix of veterans and young people that could allow the Celtics to create a dynasty. “We have a few guys who are starting to get older, but we are a young team. Most of our players are 30 or younger and that’s bad news for everyone else.”
