So his children can see him play in the NBA, Nikola Vucevic plans to play four more seasons. “I don't think I'll play another 13 years, but I have two more years with Chicago and I'd like to play two more years after that.”he explained. “I think I can play at a high level until then, and then I'll see. I love the game, and my sons are becoming a bigger motivation. They're a little older now and aware of what I'm doing. They come to practices and games… I'd like them to remember that I played basketball at a high level.”
In four years, the Bulls pivot will be 37, and he could return to Europe. He only played one season there, during the lockout, but he already knows the jersey he would like to wear.
Vucevic expects better results in Euroleague
“At the moment I'm not thinking about a return to Europe. If that were to happen, Red Star Belgrade would be my favourite team, but a lot of things would have to fall into place” he warns. “I am a big fan of Red Star. I follow both Red Star and Partizan, and I watch a lot of Euroleague. Red Star had a great season and they managed to win all the trophies. Their performance in Euroleague was not up to expectations, but that’s okay.”
Listening to him, he knows the Euroleague transfer window better than the NBA one. “I think this year’s team is better and better structured. As a fan, I would of course like them to win all those trophies again and to achieve better results in the Euroleague. Partizan has also built a good team. They have made a lot of changes since they didn’t achieve the results they wanted last season. It takes time for things to fall into place. I expect a good season from them and for them to achieve better results in the Euroleague, even to fight for a place in the top eight.”
