Nikola Jokic, Novak Djokovic and Serbian medallists given heroes' welcome in Belgrade

The Serbian Olympic basketball team had already celebrated this bronze medal in Paris. Videos were circulating in which we could see Nikola Jokic and his band playing the third half after the third-place play-off against Germany.

Monday, they were able to continue this party upon returning home. And it was not only the basketball players who were celebrated by thousands of Serbs in front of the balcony of the Old Palace. Serbian athletes were given a proper welcome by the crowd, such as Novak Djokovic who won Olympic gold for the first time in his career.

To the sound of “MVP, MVP,” Nikola Jokic received a huge ovation from the crowd when he was introduced. It must be said that the Nuggets center finished the tournament with the highest total of points, rebounds and assists in the tournament, and he even registered a triple-double (the fifth in the history of the Games).

Team captain Bogdan Bogdanovic took the microphone to address the crowd, and he did not fail to point out that they were the best team in the tournament, like his coach before him.

“Thank you for supporting us throughout the tournament, not only us but also all the other athletes. Thank you for tonight, we really appreciated it. Now we will say goodbye like after every match. We said who the best were, and you know who the best are,” launched Bogdanovic to the crowd.
