The first time it might be curiosity, but when it happens several times, it's talent! Caitlin Clark brought out the crowds again in the WNBA when the Atlanta Dream took on the Indiana Fever. In fact, 17,608 people came to State Farm Arena on Monday night to watch the game.
“I feel like a kid playing basketball and having a lot of fun. For me, coming to these rooms, these environments, it's crazy. Really.”, she commented.
This is the new record for the Atlanta franchise while the old one dated back to June 24 during a game against… Caitlin Clark and the Fever! This is therefore the fifth time this season that the rookie and her team, on the road, have broken a local record. Before, there were records in Minnesota, Las Vegas, Seattle and Atlanta.
“I don't expect such audiences. Maybe you get used to it a little, but for me it's always a surprise,” continues the Fever player. “It's really cool, especially for a young girl who grew up coming to see the games. If I had seen such crowds when I was young, I would have been over the moon.”
The hype around Caitlin Clark has been huge since the start of the season. She's drawing crowds in arenas, viewers on television, breaking records and the WNBA knows it, giving the next All-Star Game to Indiana. “I'm very happy to see the impact that I have, that my teammates have been able to have, that basketball players all over the country have been able to have.”she concluded.
