The Pelicans never let up EJ Liddell, who has just signed a new three-year contract with New Orleans. Drafted in 41st position in the 2022 Draft after three seasons at Ohio State, position 4 found himself in a delicate position after suffering a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee during a Summer League game last July. And this when he had not yet officially signed his rookie contract.
The Louisiana franchise had not turned its back on him by keeping him a place in its roster with a “two-way contract” and The Athletic reports that he signed a three-year contract at the end of his rehabilitation. The first year is at 1.8 million dollars, the second at 2.1 million and the third is a “team option” at 2.3 million dollars, or 6.2 million dollars in total.
It will now be up to him to find a place in Willie Green’s rotation, which will not be an easy task in the current state when Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson (and Larry Nance Jr) can evolve in his position.
Alongside Dyson Daniels, EJ Liddell will be part of the Pelicans team that will open the ball for the Summer League in Las Vegas tonight against Minnesota (10:40 p.m.).
