Nets want ‘size’ and ‘badness’ for next season

Even with a Joel Embiid on the sidelines, the Nets failed to take a game from the Sixers on the series.

The fault in particular with a faulty 3-point address (32.6% on the series) but which stems more from a lack of creators than a lack of shooters, but also from the weakness of the group in the racket.

“We have to recover size during the summer. We have to recover from the badness in the summer” thus explains Jacque Vaughn. “We need to find guys who like to hit and who care when the other team gets a rebound. That’s what we’re going to look for. »

Brooklyn will therefore look for physical rebounders on the market, to relieve Nic Claxton below.

But not only, because Jacque Vaughn notes that the Nets lacked creators, Spencer Dinwiddie being the only one who could attract the defense to serve his comrades, while Mikal Bridges is still learning to master this aspect. The return of a Ben Simmons could certainly help in the area, but it will not be enough.

“For our group, in the future, we will need to have several players who can attack their defender, go into the paint and create chances for others, that’s for sure”he explained.

The Nets will have choices to make this summer, particularly regarding Cameron Johnsonwho is coming to the end of his rookie contract, Seth Curry and Yuta Watanabe, who are free agents, from Royce O’Nealewhose next season is only partially guaranteed, or Spencer Dinwiddieeligible for a contract extension.
