Nets to retire Vince Carter's number on Jan. 25

As he prepares to enter the Hall of Fame, Vince Carter will also be getting another honor in the coming months, as the Brooklyn Nets have announced plans to retire his jersey.

And according to Michael Scottothe ceremony will take place on January 25, for a match against the Heat!

“Coming here in a few years, seeing my name on the ceiling of the room, that would be a dream come true, like for any player. It’s a goal. It means you’ve had a phenomenal career for this team. I would never say no.” Vince Carter had dropped a few years ago. “It’s always been great to come here, warm, always with Nets jerseys (New Jersey era). It’s always cool. No matter where I go, it’s cool to see Nets jerseys, Raptors jerseys. That’s the best part: coming back and seeing those jerseys.”

Vince Carter's #15 will be the seventh number retired by the Nets after Drazen Petrovic (#3) posthumously, Jason Kidd (#5), John Williamson (#23), Bill Melchionni (#25), Julius Erving (#32) and Buck Williams (#52). Note that as with the other franchises in the league, Bill Russell's #6 is also retired.
