Is it the timing or the justification of certain injuries (or both…) that made the NBA wince, more and more attentive to the questions of abusive “load management”, following the meeting won by Brooklyn in Indiana on Saturday? As a reminder, the Nets had moved with eight fewer players (Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Joe Harris, Nic Claxton, Royce O’Neale and TJ Warren), with more or less admissible justifications.
Jacque Vaughn had somewhat anticipated the sanction by ensuring that all absences were justified.
“I think everything reported today has been documented. We know that Seth and Joe injured their ankles in the offseason, there is no argument against it. Nic didn’t play the last game because he had hamstring pain, that’s indisputable. Kevin leads the league in minutes played, there’s no denying that. Royce has a personal reason for missing the next game”, said the coach.
The Nets succeeded by granting a little extra rest to these eight players, and by bringing back the victory of Indianapolis as a bonus. Sand doubts what to pay the 25,000 dollars with a smile.
