A few hours before the semi-finals of the 2024 season with the Liberty – Aces and Lynx – Sun posters, it is time to take stock for the WNBA, and unsurprisingly, there were record attendances in the theaters and on the small screen. Thus, the league announces an increase of 48% presence in theaters with 9,807 spectators on average, compared to 6,615 people in 2023!
In total, 2,353,735 people went to a WNBA hall this year, and this is unheard of since 2002. In total, the 12 franchises have had 154 sold-out matches, compared to 45 in 2023.
Tidal wave in Indiana
Three matches attracted more than 20,000 spectators, and they have one thing in common: the presence of Caitlin Clark's Fever. On September 19, the Mystics hosted the Fever in front of 20,711 spectators. This is a little more than the Fever – Mystics meetings on June 7 (20,333) and Fever – Aces on July 2 (20,366).
Obviously, the Fever won the attendance record for a season with a total of 340,715 fans. The Indiana franchise shatters the old Liberty record: 250,565 spectators in 2001.
