NCAA | It’s RJ Davis’ turn to return to North Carolina

Coming off of a terribly disappointing season, which ended with a quarter-final elimination from the ACC conference tournament, the basketball program of North Carolina consoles itself by starting its off-season ideally.

Indeed, the Tar Heels chain a second good news in as many days: after the announcement of Armand Bacot of his return for a fifth and final year, it is this time RJ Davis which formalizes that he remains at Chapel Hill for the 2023/24 season, the fourth of his course with the 2022 finalists.

Expected, since his projection in the NBA is in any case quite uncertain, the announcement of RJ Davis therefore allows Hubert Davis and his staff to project themselves very early in the offseason on the next exercise, during which the legendary six-pack program titles will absolutely have to bounce back after this failed season.

With the New York native and Armando Bacot, the spine of the Tar Heels game is therefore fixed and it is a good base. It remains to be seen which players will surround this duo, since North Carolina has already lost four players on the transfer portal, with two other players having reached the end of their course.

In other words: the offseason is off to a good start for UNC, but there is still work to do…
