NCAA | Arthur Kaluma takes over from Keyontae Johnson at Kansas State

Everything rolls for kansas state, in this off-season. After a very successful 2022/23 campaign, which validated a return to national prominence (26 wins and 10 losses and a run to the March Madness Elite Eight), the Wildcats continue indeed to go in the right direction.

Thanks to the recruiting talents of coach Jerome Tang, who arrived at the head of the program last year and who brilliantly made up for the departures of his two best players of the past season: Markquis Nowell, star of the last “March Madness”, replaced by Tylor Perry who arrives from North Texas, and above all the miraculous Keyontae Johnson, authorized by the NBA to appear in the Draft two and a half years after his serious heart attack, replaced by Arthur Kalumawhich arrives from Creighton.

Author of a good start to his university career with the Bluejays (11.1 points and 5.7 rebounds in two seasons), the winger from Texas, naturalized Ugandan in 2020, entered the transfer portal last month, and will therefore continue his NCAA career with an ambitious Kansas State team. Indisputable holder, he will obviously take over from Keyontae Johnson as strong winger, in Jerome Tang’s five major.

Before deciding to play a third season on the college boards, Arthur Kaluma had embarked on the pre-Draft process while maintaining his college eligibility. According to ESPN, he had even completed seven “workouts” after the Draft Combine. Not enough to convince him to maintain his registration, obviously.

Probable choice of the end of the second round this year, if he had remained in the Draft, he therefore seems to be betting on a big “junior” season with the Wildcats to further inflate his rating for the 2024 Draft.
