The ranking of the highest paid coaches in the country in the NCAA will welcome a new member soon. Two and a half months after the national title of UConnthe fifth in the history of the program, the coach Dan Hurley is actually rewarded with a very lucrative contract extension.
According to ESPN, this new contract of six seasons will guarantee, at least, 33 million dollars to the chief technician of the Huskies. Different bonuses linked to sports and school performance could even push the total up even further. Now under contract with UConn until 2029, Dan Hurley thus hits a deserved jackpot, and settles permanently at the head of the five-time champion program.
UConn aims for the double
Arrived on the Storrs campus in 2018, the son of the legendary Bob Hurley is almost 66% winning in five seasons with the Huskies (104v-55d), and he has brought the program back to center stage. Unanimously renowned for his qualities as a builder of a culture wherever he went, he had already succeeded in his passages to Wagner (38 victories and 23 defeats between 2010 and 2012), then to Rhode Island (113-82 between 2012 and 2018) .
Next season, his mission will be to achieve the double. Despite the departures of Andre Jackson Jr, Jordan Hawkins and Adama Sanogo to the Draft, the Connecticut squad still has a good roster, and will be among the regular season heavyweights in the college championship.
