NCAA: a six-year extension for Jon Scheyer at Duke

Duke decided to trust Jon Scheyer over the long term to occupy the position of coach of the Blue Devils.

Aged 36, Mike Krzyzewski’s successor has just accepted a six-year extensionwhich now links with the University of Durham until 2029.

Former Duke player then assistant to “Coach K” for eight years, Jon Scheyer took over from his mentor only a year ago on the Duke bench, with an initial record of 27 wins and 9 losses. Winners of the ACC tournament, its players however failed quite quickly during “March Madness”, being eliminated in the second round by Tennessee (65-52).

Duke will now try to enlist Cooper Flagg, the best high school student in the United States, in order to improve its roster. The prospect is scheduled to be received in Durham this weekend for a tour of the facilities and campus.
