NBA rejects Knicks' claim

On February 12, the Knicks lost to the Rockets in a manner as cruel as it was unfair, after a bad refereeing decision having offered three free throws to Aaron Holiday with 0.3 seconds remaining, on a non-existent foul by Jalen Brunson.

Following this whistle, synonymous with defeat and ultimately recognized as a failure, new York filed a protest in order to cancel its loss against Houston. Except that, two weeks later, and without much surprise, the NBA did not support the New York franchise, rejecting this famous claim.

Only rejections since 2007

It must be said that, to be validated, a claim must above all prove the “ bad application » of an official rule and not just a bad whistle. In this case, the Knicks were unable to demonstrate it, which led the NBA to reject their request.

Historically, only six complaints have been approved by the league and the last dates back to December 2007, when Shaquille O'Neal was ejected for six fouls, although he had only committed five.

To console themselves, the Knicks can say that the referees gave them a nice gift against the Pistons, by forgetting a foul by Donte DiVincenzo on Ausar Thompson.
