It's one of the (many) events planned for NBA 2K25: Vince Carter has been honored by appearing on the cover of the “Hall of Fame” version of NBA 2K25. 2K Sports has put “Vinsanity” in the spotlight because he will officially be inducted into the Hall of Fame in just over a month, recognizing his entire body of work, including his longevity with a record 22 NBA seasons under his belt.
For the future Hall of Famer, it's a fair return, he who has never made the cover of the game since its debut. It's also an inestimable satisfaction towards… his children! With this cover, his young son and daughter see him a little at the height of the legend that he was.
“It's truly an honor”, he confided about his presence on the game cover. “You know, you play basketball your whole life, and you want to accomplish things, and show that you're the best version of yourself, and all that stuff, and hope that the accolades and the rewards will come your way. When I was younger, young Vince, I played a lot of video games. So I have a high regard for that world. Now, I have a young son and a daughter who's in college. So to be on the cover while my daughter is in college and my son is growing up, starting to understand what video games are and learning how to play, it's a pretty cool situation. Let's just say it gives me Dad Points, it makes me a pretty cool dad, at least in my daughter's inner circle.”
These “points”, which make Vince Carter a better father in the eyes of his children, also bring to mind the attribute points which allow your player to progress in the game, thanks to a virtual currency called… “VC”, which are not only the initials of Vince Carter, but also the acronym for “Virtual Currency”.
What is certain is that this cover will bring him closer to the younger generation, of which his children are a part, and who are perhaps less familiar with the mark left by “VC” in the shadow of Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal or Allen Iverson in the 2000s. All three of them also had their NBA 2K “covers” at some point in their careers.
As a reminder, the Hall of Fame edition will be available until September 8 at a price of €149.99 on PS5 and PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and PC.
