NBA 2K24 pays homage to Kobe Bryant with ‘Mamba Moments’ mode

NBA 2K continues with two big editions since after the 2K23 edition with Michael Jordan in the spotlight, NBA 2K24 will pay tribute to the late Kobe Bryant. This spotlight will be embodied in particular by the “Mamba Moments” mode which, like the “Jordan Challenge” in 2023, allows you to replay the best moments of the career of the Lakers back.

If the “Jordan Challenge” listed 15 emblematic matches to be played, it is not yet known how many great moments from the career of the “Black Mamba” will be made available.

Among those listed in the “trailer” released yesterday, we can already note seven:

– Game 4 of the 2001 playoff conference semi-finals against the Kings when Kobe Bryant scored 48 points to sweep Sacramento on May 13, 2001 (113-19).

– His successful 12-game 3-pointer against Seattle on January 7, 2003.

– His recital with 55 points against the Wizards of his mentor Michael Jordan on March 28, 2003 (he had not finished in double-double contrary to what the trailer indicates).

– His performance at 62 points in three quarters (32 minutes) against the Mavericks on December 20, 2005.

– His 65 points (at 8/12 at 3-decks) passed against the Blazers in a 116-111 overtime success, March 16, 2007.

– Game 5 of the 2008 Conference Finals against the Spurs to send the Lakers to the NBA Finals with 39 points, May 29, 2008.

– Game 7 won in the 2010 NBA Finals against the Celtics on June 17, 2010.

It remains to be hoped that this fine collection of highlights from Kobe Bryant’s career will be supplemented by other memorable moments in NBA 2K24, such as his 81 points scored against the Raptors, or his last career game in April 2016, when he had slammed 60 points against Utah. One could also think of a game in the 2001 NBA Finals against Allen Iverson’s Sixers, or even other highlights of the playoffs.

Another epic meeting of his incredible epic in the jersey of the Lakers which would have its place at the heart of this beautiful compilation, during the first round of the 2006 playoffs against the Suns, when he had snatched overtime at the last second after a throw-in from Boris Diaw intercepted by Smush Parker, before scoring the winning basket in a buzzer five minutes later…
