In the final sprint towards its global release on September 9, NBA 2K23 has played its last card by revealing the outlines of “The City”, the city in which your player will evolve in the “My Career” mode on “next-gen” consoles. The “trailer” published on Wednesday allows you to discover the novelties of this essential universe and refreshed at each start of the school year.
The concepts, however, remain the same as in 2021, with an liner nicknamed “GOAT Boat” for current generations of consoles updated by faster access to match making or the presence of showers, to renew your session, and “The City” for “next-gen” consoles.
NBA 2K has reduced its city in size and made subway stations available at each strategic location on the map to allow you to navigate the entire map more quickly. Always faithful to its principle of affiliation, the firm has created four communities whose neighborhoods display a striking landscape!
Between vipers and volcanoes!
That of the “South City Vipers” acts as a jungle, based around a temple adorned with two huge statues of vipers. The landmark of the “North Side Knights” transports you to the Middle Ages after crossing a movable bridge to arrive at the foot of a castle, where the panels are built of wooden structures.
The “Western Wildcats” are anchored in a semi-desert landscape within a scenic canyon, while the “Beasts of the East” promise a hostile welcome surrounded by molten lava from a volcano overlooking their base camp.
The Arena, a big plus
In the center of the city, the Bloc is presented as the “new Mecca of competition”. It concentrates Theater, Pro-AM, The REC, Ante Up and Club 2K.
The other main buildings in the city will be the Jordan Challenge building, to play the new mode, a brand new “Event Center” to participate in the various events, and the brand new Dreamville studio, the studio of the artist J. Cole that you will come across during your career.
But the flagship location of this 2023 edition could well be “The Arena”, a life-size NBA hall within the city in which you will go to play your NBA matches in “My Career”. You will then discover behind the scenes of your enclosure (that of the Warriors in the photos, the Bulls in the “trailer”), via the entrance reserved for players, media access, the locker room, while having the possibility of complete various quests.
