Mystics break WNBA attendance record for Caitlin Clark visit

The WNBA regular season came to a close last night, with attendance records piling up.

All year round, Caitlin Clark has thus brought out the crowds, and this was again the case for the last meeting of the Indiana Fever, on the court of the Washington Mystics. For the occasion, the DC team had relocated to the Capital One Arena, the usual venue of the Wizards. Enough to beat the WNBA attendance record in the regular season!

There were 20,711 spectators present during the match, won (92-91) by the Mystics. Unfortunately for them, the Dream's victory at the Liberty prevents them from accessing the playoffs.

The American Capital Club in any case erased its own regular season attendance record, which the team had held since the 1998 and 1999 seasons, with four games played in front of 20,674 spectators.

Note that the absolute record belongs to the Detroit Shock, in the playoffs. During the 2003 Finals, against the Los Angeles Sparks, Ruth Riley and her teammates played at the Palace of Auburn Hills in front of 22,076 spectators.
