MVP 2023 | Joel Embiid puts an end to the domination of Nikola Jokic!

At 29, after finishing in 2nd place in the vote in 2021 then 2022, Joel Embiid finally adds its name to the list of MVPin other words the most prestigious of individual awards!

Preferred to Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Cameroonian rightly succeeds the “Joker” of the Nuggets, decorated in the last two years, to become the 5th player of the Sixers to win this trophy after Wilt Chamberlain (1966, 1967, 1968), Julius Erving (1981), Moses Malone (1983) and Allen Iverson (2001).

A coronation which we could expect as the season progressed, because Joel Embiid has often spared no effort to drive Philadelphia up to 3rd place in the Eastern Conference (54-28): 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.0 interceptions on average, 55% in shooting (including 33% at 3-pointers) and 86% throws!

Top scorer in the league for the second time in a row, the interior All-Star is incidentally only the 6th non-American player to win the bet, in addition to becoming the 14th pivot in history to win this coveted title. . It remains to be seen whether the one who has been naturalized French, and could therefore defend the colors of the French team, will succeed in establishing himself as the first MVP crowned champion the same year since Stephen Curry (2015)…
