The thirty coaches of the league have given their verdict, and for the majority of them, it is mike brown who had the best 2022/23 financial year, at the helm of the Kings.
According to ESPNthe Sacramento coach was named Coach of the Year by the National Basketball Coaches Association (NBCA) after successfully qualifying the Californian franchise for the playoffs after 17 years of drought.
For his first season at the head of the Kings, he did even better than that as he hoisted his team to 3rd place in the Western Conference, thus securing the home advantage in the first round against Golden. State, developing a fire attack with historic offensive efficiency (118.6 points on 100 possessions)
ESPN specifies that Mike Budenholzer (Bucks), Mark Daigneault (Thunder), Joe Mazzulla (Celtics) and Tom Thibodeau (Knicks) also received votes, each coach having one vote, without being able to vote for himself.
On the union’s list, Mike Brown succeeds Monty Williams, who was also voted coach of the year by the NBA last year. Note that Mike Brown has already been named “Coach of the Year” in 2008/09 with Cleveland.
