Michael Porter Jr.'s other brother sentenced to six years in prison

Very, very bad week for the Porter family. While Jontay was banned for life by the NBA for tampering with his performances and thus attempting to validate sports bets, Coban was sentenced to six years in prison.

The youngest of the siblings was on trial after causing a car accident in January 2023. Drunk, he ran a red light and hit a vehicle, killing the driver and seriously injuring the passenger.

“All I can say is I’m sorry.”, said Coban Porternow 22 years old. “I know I can never undo this mistake…I never thought I would end up here.” I thought I was invincible. This wasn't the first time I drank and drove. I am really sorry. »

Nuggets winger present at trial

Having pleaded guilty, the former freshman at the University of Denver, where he averaged 11.4 points in 2021/22, was accompanied by his loved ones during his trial, Michael Porter Jr. having notably missed the Nuggets' training this Friday in order to testify.

“It wasn’t easy for him”recognizes Michael Malone, Denver coach, about his winger. “That’s why I give him credit, because he carries so much in his heart and in his head. The fact that he goes out there and gets the job done shows how strong this young man is. »

Obviously, this is not ideal for “MPJ” as the playoffs approach, and the first round against the Lakers.

“I don’t think we talked to him about it. It's not something we talk about.”however explained Jamal Murray. “We remain professional and we all support him. He handles the situation very well. Obviously, it's not easy. But yeah, we let him handle that. »
