Coach of the reigning champion team, Michael Malone is rewarded by its leaders, since ESPN reports that it was extended by the Nuggets. If the duration and amount of this extension have not yet been revealed, he nevertheless becomes one of the best paid coaches in the league. A ranking where we find Gregg Popovich at the top, but also Monty Williams, who signed a $100 million contract with the Pistons this summer!
At 52, Malone is currently fourth in longevity on the same bench, after Gregg Popovich (Spurs), Erik Spoelstra (Heat) and Steve Kerr (Warriors). Arriving in Colorado in the summer of 2015, he has since guided the Nuggets towards the heights of the West and especially towards obtaining the first title in their history, this year, with a victory in the final against the Heat.
Appreciated by Nikola Jokic and his players thanks in particular to his teaching qualities, Malone has 58% victories in the regular season (375-272) and 54% victories in the playoffs (37-31). So far, the defending champions are co-leaders of their conference, with eight wins in ten games.
