A very classy entrance gate decorated with the famous number 23. Welcome to Michael Jordan ! But not for long. The Athletic reports that The Bulls legend's mansion, located north of Chicago in Highland Park, is finally about to be sold. A sales agreement has reportedly been reached.
We say “finally” because this property, acquired by the Hall of Famer in the 1990s, had been on the market for 12 years! The house had most recently been put up for sale for just under $15 million, while its initial sale price, in 2012, was twice as high ($29 million).
When he won his first title with the Bulls in 1991, Michael Jordan had invested $2 million to acquire this land of approximately 3 hectares where he would build his mansion. He had settled there a few years later, once the work was completed. Major renovations had been carried out subsequently, in 2009.
Inside, there are all the usual elements of gigantism: golf course, tennis court, circular swimming pool, basketball court, nine bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, a library, a garage for 14 cars… The buyer, whose name and money spent are still unknown, should have plenty to keep him busy.
As for Michael Jordan, he is not in danger of ending up on the street. Sports Illustrated listed recently its multiple properties on American territory, on the shores of Lake Michigan, in Utah and even in Florida.
