Mavericks inquire about Jerami Grant

With a current payroll of around $170 million, Portland is likely to downsize during the offseason to avoid paying the luxury tax. Which would be a shame for the worst team in the West.

The Blazers should therefore be attentive to offers concerning their veterans holding attractive contracts. Among these, Jeremy Grant. And according to SportsNet New Yorkhis situation would interest several teams, including the reigning finalists, the Mavericks.

Last July, the Portland native signed a five-year, $160 million contract extension. With a progressive salary of 30 million dollars next year, 32 million the following year, then 34 in 2027.

Tim Hardaway Jr. in the balance?

Highly paid for a player who averaged 21 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists for the weak Blazers, whom he failed to improve? Today perhaps, but in the context of the expected explosion of the “salary cap”, the amount of this contract could be seen differently in the years to come.

His profile would fit with the recent recruitments made by the Mavs (Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington), namely complete and athletic players. However, let's see the possible compensation offered by the Texans, who have also shown their desire to extend Derrick Jones as a priority. We naturally think of Tim Hardaway Jr. whose contract expires next season.

Besides Jerami Grant, the Blazers would also likely listen to offers for Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams III, and potentially Anfernee Simons and Deandre Ayton. With the exception of the former Celtics pivot, all of these players earn more than $22 million.
