Matt Ryan extends in New Orleans

In the heart of the playoffs, we learn from Hoopshype that Pelicans offered a three-year extension to Matt Ryan (5.4 points average) and the amount of his new contract amounts to 6.1 million dollars.

In detail, if its 2023/24 season is fully guaranteed to the tune of 1.5 million dollars, its 2024/25 season is not guaranteed, while its 2025/26 season is a “team option”.

A pure shooter (41% from 3-point range in his career, with a peak of 45% this season), Matt Ryan was signed in October on a two-way contract and then obtained a guaranteed contract of New Orleans until the end of this exercise.

The team's best outside shooter, the 27-year-old winger is not, however, one of Willie Green's core men, since he has still not seen the floor against Oklahoma City, in the first round of the playoffs. While his shooting quality could help NOLA put the Thunder defense in more difficulty. Particularly behind the arc: 28% and 27% 3-point success in the first two games.
