Brad Stevens and Jayson Tatum had already paid tribute to Marcus Smart, after his transfer to Memphis. It is now the playmaker who has returned to the nine seasons he spent in Boston, on his Twitter account.
“Goodbyes are hard, but the future is exciting,” writes Marcus Smart. ” Where to start ? As soon as I start thinking about it, a lot of emotions run through my mind. I arrived in Boston as a naive kid from Dallas, not really knowing what to expect. All I knew was the work ethic my mom instilled in me and that I was going to work like crazy to make sure I earned the respect of every Boston fan. That’s why it was hard. »
But over the seasons, he has become an indisputable starter, a pillar of the team, the defender of the year 2022 as well as an NBA finalist the same year.
“Boston is a very special place for me. I grew up here and met some of my best friends here. I will never forget the time I spent here. In the end, we did not win this 18th title, but I am very, very proud of our success. I will miss many things in Boston, but especially my teammates, the fans, the children and our charity work at the hospital. It was nine great years in Boston, thank you for all the love. Now it’s time to look ahead. »
The sequel is Memphis, of course, where it is eagerly awaited, by Desmond Bane in particular. “I can’t wait to get to Memphis. There is something unique there. I am blessed to be part of the Grizzly Nation. At work. »
