Malcolm Brogdon in search of a Polish passport

Poland is well on its way to making a name for itself at the Olympic qualifying tournament (OQT). According to the Polish sports daily Onet, taken up by Basketnews, Malcolm Brogdon thus applied for Polish nationality.

There had already been talk of this rapprochement in March 2022. The Blazers player's connections with this country come from his wife, with Polish roots and whose parents live in the vicinity of Slupsk, in the north of the country. The 2017 rookie of the year has also gone there in the past to train with Pawel Leonczyk, who played with the national team.

The Polish Basketball Federation has been in contact with the player ever since. This is now the first official step towards playing for Poland. The playmaker submitted his application at an American consulate. The decision is now in the hands of Polish President Andrzej Duda.

With Jeremy Sochan?

If Malcolm Brogdon were to play for Poland, he would probably be joined by Jeremy Sochan. “ We think we are very close to reaching an agreement. Jeremy wants to play for the Polish national team and he really wants to fight for the Olympics. However, not everything depends on him and we totally understand that », Recently posted Lukasz Koszarek, the big boss of the selection.

The name of Brandin Podziemski was also mentioned, but the arrival of the Warriors player induces a naturalization process, unlike the Spurs player, who already has the nationality of the country.

Poland, which could therefore look good, will play its TQO in Valencia at the beginning of July, in Group B with Finland and the Bahamas. Spain, Angola and Lebanon are in Group A. The winner of this qualifying tournament in Spain will participate in the Paris Olympics.
