Even if he did not manage to find a place in an NBA squad, Mac McClung will not forget this 2023/24 season. After achieving the double in the Slam Dunk Contest, the explosive guard adds an award to his mantle, that of MVP of the G-League. Leader of the Osceola Magic, Orlando's affiliate franchise, Mac McClung averaged 25.7 points, 6.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds. Top scorer in the G-League, he led the Magic to 1st place in the standings in the East with 22 wins and 12 losses.
This award enriches an already well-stocked track record since at 25 years old, McClung had already won the title of best G-League rookie in 2022 and he is the reigning champion with the Delaware Blue Coats. But since that night, he can no longer dream of a double since, to everyone's surprise, the Magic were knocked out by the Long Island Nets in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
In voting, he is ahead of Alondes Williams, who is one of the Heat’s “two-way contracts”. The latter will be satisfied with the Most Improved Player trophy. In 3rd place in the votes, the imposing Kenneth Lofton Jr., who fails to find a place in the NBA, even if he ends the season at Jazz.
