Luka Doncic intends to continue with the TQO after the Finals

Although he is currently entirely focused on Finals against the Celtics, Luka Doncic will then have to turn to the Olympic Games from the end of this series. Or rather towards this Olympic qualifying tournament (TQO) through which the Slovenia to join Paris 2024

Unsurprisingly, the franchise player of the Mavs is therefore one of the 16 players pre-selected by Aleksander Sekulic for this deadline necessary to access the final table of the Olympics. He is accompanied by regulars Vlatko Cancar (Nuggets), Zoran Dragic, Klemen Prepelic, Jaka Blazic, Edo Muric, Ziga Dimec and even naturalized Mike Tobey (replaced in the future by… Daniel Gafford?).

A problematic knee…

The fact remains that at this stage of events, nothing guarantees the presence of Luka Doncic for this TQO in Greece, even if the person concerned was keen to be reassuring on this subject.

We'll see how my knee is, but if it's okay then I'll play » did he declare at a press conference.

Here, Luka Doncic refers to his right knee which has been hampering him for several weeks and which could really do with rest to allow him to be 100% again.

…and possibly restrictive Finals?

Another unknown: the end date of the Finals, since a possible Game 7 would take place on June 23 and, in the event of a title, it would still be necessary to allow a few additional days in Texas, for the parade and the celebrations.

As the start of the TQO is set for July 2, this would – in the worst case scenario – only leave around ten days for Luka Doncic to recharge his batteries before moving on to a new international adventure.

Not ideal, but the Slovenian's love for his country always seemed stronger than fatigue…

As a reminder, Slovenia will have to get rid of Greece, Croatia, the Dominican Republic, Egypt and New Zealand to hope to reach Paris 2024 and be transferred to the group of Australia and Canada.
