Lou Williams, the eternal substitute | NBA

Triple best 6th man of the year (2015, 2018 and 2019), Lou Williams was already the best scoring substitute in NBA history. Last night, he also became the most played (regular season) substitute player in league history, taking over from Dell Curry.

In the NBA since 2005, “Sweet Lou” has been replaced 985 times, against 984 for the father of Steph and Seth.

“It means a lot in terms of longevity”explains the 35-year-old rear, who is playing his 17th season in the Great League. “It means I’ve had the opportunity to play at a high level since I was 17. Being in the NBA is a blessing and I’m happy to still be here and still playing. “

Are there any particular memories that stand out?

“It’s generally unclear to me” he responds to this. “We spend so much time playing, preparing, pushing to be ready for the next day, the next day, the next day… A lot of times my friends and family have to remind me of the cool things I’ve been able to do during my career . “

No title (for now) but his stints at the Sixers, Hawks, Raptors, Lakers, Rockets or Clippers have shown that he was among the best players in history to bring points without being a starter.
