After a false start, linked to Covid, Lonzo Ball should make his comeback on the field during the preseason. According to the Chicago Tribune, the Bulls leader has not suffered any relapse, and the plan is to have him play two of the last three preparation matches. He himself confirmed it in a podcast.
“It is planned that I will not play the first two matches, and that I will play the last two. Maybe two of the last three” explains the former Lakers and Pelicans point guard. A look at the Bulls' schedule tells us that Ball could therefore be in uniform Monday evening against the Bucks, or Wednesday against the Wolves. Remember that he has not set foot on a floor since January 2022!
Confidence in movements
So there are still a few days to wait, and the good news is that Ball assures us that he is in great shape. “For now, the knee is fine, everything is fine, and I can’t wait for what’s next” he explains. “I feel better, I have confidence in the movements and the work I do.”
This week, Billy Donovan warned that he would remain very careful with his playmaker throughout the season. “He is very realistic about his physical state”explained the Chicago coach. “We have to find a way for him to extend his career by showing that he can be a productive player. I also think he understands that, minutes-wise, it's not going to be what he experienced in New Orleans or even what he experienced his first year in Chicago. He has to find a way to try to get a good place. He's going to have to show that he can do it throughout the season, but maybe he won't play 82 games. Maybe he’ll play 65.”
