It's done, we know the final table of the Olympic Games with the following quarter-finals: Germany – Greece; France – Canada; United States – Brazil and Serbia – Australia. The chance of the draw means that LeBron James' United States could meet Serbia in the semi-finals. Same situation for Germany and France, or Greece and Canada.
Seeded number one after their big win, the United States are taking on their “weakest” opponent in Brazil, and LeBron James spoke about adversity after the win over Puerto Rico.
“There are a lot of very good teams. Obviously, there’s Canada and Germany. I liked the way Greece fought. I wasn’t very impressed with France’s last game. I didn’t think they were ready for Germany’s physical game. But beyond that, they had some good basketball. We know it’s going to be tough. It’s going to be a challenge, and we’ll have to be ready.”
For Steve Kerr, the hardest part begins after this perfectly controlled group stage. “We did what we wanted to do, win all three games and secure first place”, recalls Team USA coach. “We know we have to play better. The thing about this tournament is that it's getting harder and harder.”
