For the past week, LeBron James has been training with Bronny for the first time. Their association, unprecedented in the NBA, will be the most followed event of the resumption, and the four-time MVP has a hard time believing it. So much so that he admits to losing his concentration during the sessions.
“You know, it's definitely different in the sense that Bronny is now part of the team. I think it's one of the best things in the world to be able to work with your kid.” LeBron James responds to Mike Golic Sr. and his son. “This week we got back in the gym and it was the first time Bronny and I were on the court as professionals practicing, competing, getting ready for the season. There were a few moments where I lost focus, and I don’t usually lose focus when I’m on the court. But, you know, a lot of times I just watched from the sidelines, watched him, watched him prepare and watched him go forward. It’s going to be an incredible year for me and hopefully for him.”
Enjoy the moment
At almost 40 years old, LeBron James has absolutely nothing left to prove. His level of play is still mind-blowing, and he just won the MVP trophy at the Olympic Games. But to listen to him, this season will be mostly Bronny's, and his state of mind will clearly be different. We could sum it up with the famous phrase “Carpe Diem”.
“I think it’s going to allow me to enjoy the moment a little bit more. You know, when you’re so wrapped up and you’re in training mode and you’re in determination mode, and you’re so wrapped up in the preparation and the process, sometimes you can lose sight of some of the things that happen throughout the season that you should celebrate or appreciate a little bit more. I think with Bronny being there, I can have a moment or two where I can step back and appreciate the moment itself because it doesn’t last forever.”
