LeBron James: “I don’t want to end my career playing at this level collectively”

A good match on an individual level but a defeat. This is the balance of LeBron James in Miami and that’s kind of the summary of the Los Angeles star’s season so far. Against the Heat, he thus compiled 27 points (10/18 shooting), 9 rebounds and 6 assists (but 6 bullet losses).

Except that the Lakers lost 26 balls against Jimmy Butler and company, and without Anthony Davis, they are very fragile and remain easy prey. It’s a 21st defeat in 35 games for the Californian franchise.

“I am a winner and I want to win”, yet says the quadruple NBA champion at ESPN. “I want to win and I want to give myself a chance to fight for titles. It has always been my passion, my goal since I arrived at 18 in the league. I know there are steps to get there but once you’ve done it, playing for the sake of playing is no longer in my DNA. »

With 27.8 points, 8 rebounds and 6.6 assists on average in 36 minutes per game when he is in his 20th season and will celebrate his 38th birthday on December 30, LeBron James pushes the physical limits again and again.

If the title chances are low this year for him and Los Angeles, “King James” has extended his contract with the Lakers until 2025, so he may have other opportunities.

“I don’t have a number” he replies when asked how many more seasons he has left. “As long as my mind follows, I can play at this level. My body is fine so it depends on my head. I will continue to take care of my body. But I don’t want to end my career playing at this level collectively. I can still fight for the title because I know I can bring to any team, with the right elements. »

We can obviously see, in this last sentence, a thinly veiled message for the leaders of the Lakers, who hope to have a better team by February to give themselves a real chance in the spring.
