While we were still waiting for the little post from the FFBB on the participation of Marine Johannès in the WNBA finals, an event for a French player, it is finally LeBron James who was the quickest to draw.
Present in the front row on Sunday evening in Las Vegas, the King made a post on his Twitter account to express his amazement at the repeated strokes of genius of Marine Johannès in Game 1 won by the Aces on Sunday evening. Of her 14 points, all scored in the first half, the Frenchwoman notably distinguished herself with four 3-point missiles which left their mark, with a first “catch-and-shoot”, a second off balance, then a third on the wing to finish his festival with a “Wemby-esque” shot on one leg to allow the New Yorkers to stay in the lead at the break. “I had some tough shots that went in, that happens sometimes, hopefully“, had she then slipped after the meeting.
“The shot on one leg from his left made me get up from my seat”
It was this last basket which therefore commanded the respect of LeBron James who showed his admiration for the number 23 of the Liberty the day after Game 1.
“She has a CANNON!!! »he wrote, referring to the imperturbable “arm” of the French player. “The shot on one leg from his left made me get out of my seat!! »

The WNBA can only be delighted to see one of its players put on a show like Marine Johannes did in the first half of Game 1, helping to manhandle the reigning champions on their home turf. Even in the opposite camp, Becky Hammon had to pay tribute to her, especially after paying the price for the Frenchwoman in the Commissioner’s Cup final, won by the New Yorkers at the end of August.
“Apparently Marine Johannes really likes playing against us. She knows how to take difficult shots”recognized the former legend of women’s basketball, now head coach of the Las Vegas Aces. “I’m a big fan you know, except when she plays against us.”
Next meeting tomorrow evening, still in Las Vegas, for Game 2.
