LeBron James and the fires in Los Angeles: “There were a lot of emotions”

After scoring seven points in a row in the final moments of the game against the Heat, LeBron James returned to the Los Angeles fires, which left at least 25 dead and destroyed thousands of buildings. He spoke on the subject after last week he and his family were forced to leave their home.

“I have friends who lost their homes in Pacific Palisades. My heart obviously goes out to the Los Angeles families affected by the fires,” he declared. “There were a lot of emotions. We were all a little turned off. Personally, I was absent, for several reasons. But I hope that things will get better and that we can, at one point or another, move forward, put this behind us and rebuild our city, this beautiful city. »

This victory, the Lakers' first in more than ten days, will, “LBJ” hopes, bring a little smile back to the inhabitants of the second city in the United States.

Sport as an escape from disaster

This will be the mission of the Lakers soon, to “give a feeling of hope, pride and excitement” since “Sport has always offered a temporary opportunity to forget what we are going through. We are important, with other teams in other sports, for this city”recalls the local star.

For a moment, LeBron James in any case offered an unforgettable gift to a very young fan, who wore his jersey in the front row, amazed to find himself a few meters from the quadruple NBA champion.

“Thank goodness I looked at my phone at half-time or I wouldn't have seen her reaction when I greeted her because I went back to play. Having that type of connection with someone who reacted like that is the most important thing,” explains LeBron James, who went to see his fan at the end of the game to take a photo with her and give her one of these bracelets. “It’s a moment I hope she won’t forget.” I am happy to now be part of his life and this little moment. I hope she brags about it at school. »
