LeBron James absent from training, the Lakers allowed to breathe

Already absent in the victory against the Blazers, due to pain in his left foot, LeBron James was still not back Wednesday, when the Lakers returned after two days of rest. He is excused “for personal reasons” simply said JJ Redick, adding that he had “need time”.

As his last match dates back to December 6, the All-Star winger of the Lakers can take the opportunity to breathe, while he will celebrate his 40th birthday in less than three weeks and had not yet missed a match of the season.

“During matches, he asks to go out several times because he is exhausted,” says the Lakers coach. “We are aware that, as time goes on, the minutes accumulate and last Sunday, as he had a sore foot, it was a good opportunity to give him some rest. »

Rest days and one-on-ones

LeBron James, apart from his personal situation, is not the only one who can recharge the batteries. Los Angeles has not played since Sunday and the next two matches will be Friday (Minnesota) and Sunday (Memphis), before only playing again on Thursday the 19th against Sacramento. Clearly, between the Blazers and the Kings, they will only have two outings in ten days: perfect for relieving heavy legs.

JJ Redick took the opportunity to give his troops two days and met several players one-on-one this Tuesday. Californians were free on Monday, then Tuesday if they wished. “If someone wants to spend two nights in Santa Barbara to relax, that’s fine with me. We are a quarter of the way through the season”announced the coach who, as a former player, knows how long the season is mentally and physically.
