Lauri Markkanen really hopes to stay in Utah

The Jazz were one of the good surprises of the last NBA season. At the end of January, Will Hardy's team was still in the positive (27 wins – 26 losses) while it was promised a painful reconstruction following the departures of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. However, the team had broken down in the final stretch.

This season, it's more complicated for Lauri Markkanen and his gang. With 10 victories for 17 defeats, Will Hardy's group is in 12th place in the West, and the surprise effect seems to have passed.

Can Danny Ainge continue to amass Draft picks, as he loves to do so much? Recently, Marc Stein explained that John Collins, Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson and Kelly Olynyk could pack their bags. Even the Finn doesn't seem untouchable, even if the price (five rounds of Draft) to recover it is high.

“I really want to emphasize that I really believe in what we are building here with Jazz” cowardly Lauri Markkanen about these rumors…

However, with his very “modest” contract ($17.3 million this year, $18 million next season but guaranteed a third) for an All-Star, Lauri Markkanen knows that nothing is certain.

“And then I was traded, I think, technically three times, with the trade on draft night. Sometimes I knew about it. Sometimes I didn't know it. So I learned the business side of basketball. I learned to take it day by day, to work and try to play to the best of my abilities. What has to happen happens, really. Like I said, I love being in Utah and it's a compliment to what you've done in the past (having teams interested in you). We will see. But yeah, I just want to emphasize that I really believe in what we're building here with the Jazz. We take it day by day. We do our best. That's all we can do. »
