Arm in arm before the meeting to celebrate Baltic friendship, the Latvians and Lithuanians ended this World Cup in a one-sided match. Led by Arturs Zagars in record mode (17 assists) and with 20 points from Arturs Kurucs, Latvia won 98-63 against Lithuania!
A 35-point victory, which took shape at the start of the 3rd quarter with a 14-1 which will increase the gap from +11 at the break to +24 (63-39) after three minutes. Lithuania will never recover from this failed quarter (28-9), with a delay of 30 points to attack the last quarter (77-47).
Winner of France, Spain, Italy and therefore Lithuania, Latvia achieved a superb 5th place for its first participation in a World Cup. All without Kristaps Porzingis forfeited a few days before the start of the competition, then without Dairis Bertans, injured in the group stage.
On arrival, Latvia finished the competition with the absolute record for passes in a match signed by Zagars, but also the greatest number of 3-pointers scored since 1994. Davis Bertans planted 110 in eight matches, at 42% in shots. Luca Bianchi’s players are also the team that has distributed the most passes (195 in eight matches), and they have the best pass/lost ball ratio (2.5) of the 32 teams.
