Landry Shamet scores points

Since the Knicks sent Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and Keita Bates-Diop to the Wolves, there are a few spots up for grabs on their roster. The franchise invited several players to its training camp to fill the holes, and among them, Landry Shamet seems to have a good head start.

Firstly because the departure of Donte DiVincenzo forces the Knicks to target a real shooter, but also because his experience will be valuable. For him, it’s a win-win. He is ready to take the risk of a non-guaranteed contract after a difficult season with the Wizards.

Reunion with Mikal Bridges and Cam Payne

“I want to win, I want to be competitive, we all do. Every NBA player who says otherwise is lying”he says to New York Post. “We all want to compete at the highest level. It's exciting to be here. Last year was last year… It’s what it is… I’m happy to be here, moving forward and building with this group.”

His first outing with the Knicks was convincing with 16 points in 26 minutes. His 3-point skill is still there, and his other asset is that he already knows certain elements like Cameron Payne and Mikal Bridges that he knew at the Suns.

“It’s huge! It's cool to be in a locker room with two of the best teammates possible. There’s a good atmosphere, with good guys… I spent a few seasons with them, and it’s pretty cool to see them again” confirms the former Clippers shooter.

A very motivating project

But the most important thing, he repeats, is to join the workforce of a very ambitious franchise. Last season, in Washington, was the very first time he missed the playoffs.

“Obviously, we see what they have been building for two years, and they reached a good level last season” he concludes about his new team. “They're trying to win (the title), to be competitive at the highest level, and that's motivating. It's motivating for everyone, and it's a very important element. I just want to be part of it. »
