LaMarcus Aldridge is retiring for good

Almost a year to the day after his last appearance on an NBA floor, with the Nets (where he passed the 20,000 career point mark), LaMarcus Aldridge decided to retire at the age of 37, as reported by The Athletic.

This is the second time that “LMA” has hung up the phone and, unlike the first when he had to announce it after a heart problem, he does it this time on his own terms, having noticed despite himself that no manager did not want to give him a last chance in the league.

Selected in 2nd position in the 2006 Draft, LaMarcus Aldridge therefore leaves the NBA without the slightest title, but having been one of the most regular interiors of his generation: 19.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.1 against on average, at 49% in shooting and 81% in throws. All while admiring his perfect mastery of the game at post and mid-distance, as well as his rebounding qualities.

His performances in Portland (2006-15) and San Antonio (2015-21) notably earned him seven All-Star nominations and five All-NBA Team appearances. He is, to date, the 46th best scorer in history.
