It’s been more than a year now that Kyle Anderson has taken the necessary steps to become a naturalized Chinese. He had started the process in 2022 and met the criteria, with a Chinese great-grandfather.
It’s now official, ESPN announcementafter the press release from the local championship (CBA). “Anderson obtained Chinese citizenship this morning and met Yao Ming, the boss of the Chinese Basketball Association”we read there.
This passport can thus allow him to play the World Cup, which begins on August 25, with China since FIBA authorizes a naturalized player by national selection. And this even if the federation has already announced a group of 18 players, without that of Wolves, because the official squad will not be confirmed until later.
