Kristi Toliver leaves Mavericks bench for WNBA

Jason Kidd confirmed that his assistant Kristi Toliver had decided to accept a position with the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA. WNBA champion with the Sparks and the Mystics, this former fullback will be the right-hand man of Nate Tibbetts, hired last October to revive a franchise in great difficulty this season: 9 victories for 31 defeats!

“It’s great for her”, reacted Jason Kiddthe coach of the Mavericks. “It’s a great opportunity for her to go to Phoenix. Her basketball intelligence is extraordinary, which makes her a great coach! »

Since 2018, Toliver has had the distinction of being an assistant in the NBA and a player in the WNBA. For three years, she played for the Wizards, before joining the Mavericks in 2021. During that time, she played for the Sparks then the Mystics. Victim of a ruptured knee ligament last September, she had only played 11 matches and this taking up duty at the Mercury is a way of drawing a line under her playing career.
