Good news for Celtics two days from the start of Finals. As indicated by The Athleticunless there is a relapse, Kristaps Porzingis will return to the courts for Game 1 against the Mavericks. His recent training sessions have reassured the staff of his franchise and nothing seems to prevent him from playing again.
Absent for more than a month, due to a right calf injury contracted during Game 4 in the first round, the Latvian had seen Boston dismiss Miami, Cleveland and Indiana from the sidelines. But his presence and his contribution (20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks on average, at 38% at 3-points) are now necessary to get rid of Dallas, his former team, and go to the title.
A nice bonus for the Celtics, which comes at the right time, while Jayson Tatum considers that Kristaps Porzingis has made the C's “a better team” since his arrival last summer.
It simply remains to be seen whether the interior will first be limited in his playing time for his return, or if Joe Mazzulla will instead decide to spare him by taking advantage of the eternal presence of Al Horford.
