A few hours before the last match of the 2023/24 regular season of the Lakers at the Crypto.com Arena (against the Warriors), the Californian franchise proceeded to the modifications of the statue of Kobe Bryanttwo months after its erection and a month after the discovery of some typographical errors at its base.
Typos where the score sheet is engraved for the evening where the “Black Mamba” scored 81 points against the Raptors. It was thus inscribed “Jose Calderson”, “Vom Wafer” and “Coach's Decision” at the base of this statue, instead of “Jose Calderon”, “Von Wafer” and “Coach's Decision”…
In addition, the Lakers took the opportunity to add the name of Julie Rotblatt Amrany, designer of the statue, and change the placement of the writing of Kobe Bryant's various accomplishments at the front of the work.
Furthermore, we also recall that two other statues of the Lakers legend will be erected in his likeness: one representing him with the number 24 on his back and another with his daughter Gigi, who died at the same time as her father. Without knowing, yet, when these two future ceremonies will be held.
