In 2023, the Knicks had waited until the August 16 deadline to guarantee the salary of Jericho Sims for the 2023/2024 financial year. One year later, repeat. HoopsHype indeed tells us that the interior will remain in New York. His two million dollars for next season are now assured.
Since arriving in New York in 2021, Jericho Sims hasn't played much. Last season, he was only allowed 13 minutes on average, out of the 45 games he played.
A role to play this season
However, that could change a bit next season. For two reasons. The first is physical: in 2022 (thumb), then 2023 (shoulder), the interior had always been forced to go under the knife during the offseason, which is never ideal to prepare to face the long regular season.
Then, the Knicks lost Isaiah Hartenstein this summer, who gave in to the ambitions and dollars of Oklahoma City. He will therefore be the third pivot behind Mitchell Robinson and Precious Achiuwa. Since the first mentioned is physically fragile, therefore often injured, perhaps Sims will have more opportunities to express himself in 2024/25.
